DaniMer Scientific has developed a new family of proprietary degradable polyester film resins to meet market demand for compostable films that are environmentally safe. At the BioPlastek 2012 Forum, DaniMer will present for the first time at a public conference 3rd party certification data showing that its new films meet ASTM D-6400 standards for compostability in a commercial industrial composting facility and more stringent EU standards for backyard composting. In response to the growing market demands for a flexible film that offers high performance capabilities while providing multiple end of life options, DaniMer Scientific has introduced a family of biobased film resins.
Described as a proprietary formulation built using degradable polyesters, the new biobased resins meet the demands of blown film converters. Single-use shopping bags is a primary target application.
For the first time at any public forum, details on the performance of the new degradable film resins will be presented at the BioPlastek 2012 Forum. The event will take place on March 28-30, 2012 at the Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel in Arlington, Virginia, USA (minutes from Washington, DC). The second in the series, the upcoming meeting will build on the great success of the inaugural BioPlastek 2011 Forum held last June in New York.
DaniMer will present current 3rd party certification data showing that the new DaniMer film grades meet the ASTM D-6400 standards for compostability in a commercial industrial composting facility. Additionally, the DaniMer film resins have met the more stringent EU standards for backyard composting.
Ecotoxicity standards also have been met by the DaniMer film resins. These environmentally safe film grade resins provide an excellent alternative for those markets where end of life options are of high value.
In yet additional certification steps, the DaniMer film resins are currently being tested by a leading 3rd party lab to allow for claims to be offered as meeting both anaerobic and aerobic conditions. These are conditions expected in a landfill or a marine water environment. Test results are anticipated to be released within the next few weeks.
